Asin And Genelia working togather: In Bollywood, one has to prove their talents and capabilities time and again. Actors have to better their acting skills, learn new dance forms, make sure they stay in the limelight and well get ahead in this mad rat race. It’s not that easy to bag movies with the big banners. The strugglers can vouch for this. Unless you are Shahrukh Khan or Amitabh Bachchan, or a star son like Ranbir Kapoor or Abhishek Bachchan, you don’t have film-makers at your doorstep, waiting to sign you on for their next film. It is difficult to make it big in Bollywood unless you have luck on your side. Either you rise through the competition or lose your way out.
The career graph of many actors proves this point. ‘Gracy Singh’, does this name ring any bells? This pretty looking petite actress got her big-break in the Oscar nominated ‘Lagaan’, opposite Aamir Khan. She was appreciated for her work. An opportunity to work in an Ashutosh Gowarikar film surely made her life. She then starred in Munnabhai MBBS and Armaan. Unfortunately her luck did not seem to last too long. Most of her films since then have failed at the box office.
Let’s take a more recent example. Both the actresses are successful South Indian Heroines, both have a super-hit movie to their credit and have had their good share of stardom. However they haven’t reached the top yet. Any guesses? Yes, they are none other than Asin and Genelia D’Souza.
Genelia made a striking comeback in Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na, opposite Imran Khan. She received accolades for her role as Aditi Mahant. A.K.A. Meow. This coming of age movie striked the right cords with the audience and the songs became an anthem for the youngsters, be it ‘Pappu Can’t Dance Saala’ Or ‘Kabhi Kabhi Aditi’. However Genelia’s success was short-lived. Her other movies, Life Partner and Chance Pe Dance both bombed at the box office.
Asin’s Bollywood career has faced a similar fate. She made a scintillating debut in Bollywood in Ghajini opposite Aamir Khan. The movie was a block-buster hit. Asin won the award for the Best Debutante. She surely seemed to have what it takes to be an A-list actress in Bollywood- be it her good looks or acting capabilities. However her career has taken off just yet. Her second movie, London Dreams with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn was a debacle at the box office. She lost out on many movies to her contemporaries, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Sonam Kapoor. Currently she is working only on one film, Ready.
So what’s the reason for this sudden change of luck? Nothing can be done about it. But one thing is for sure. If you want to survive in Bollywood you have got to be strong enough to rise through your failures, get a grip of your career and start afresh. So wish the actors all the best. May you have the strength to fight it out.
