Wedding ringers for Kareena Kapoor?

Wedding ringers for Kareena Kapoor? Ending much speculation, actor Kareena Kapoor says that the massive rock that she sports on her ring finger is something that she had gifted herself. “I know, everybody loves it (the huge diamond) but it’s mine. Saif has not gifted it to me,” she says.

The obvious question that comes up next is that of marriage and Kareena says that it is an eventuality for sure. “I believe in the institution of marriage and I will eventually settle down. But at this point of time, it is work which is on top of my priority list,” says Kareena.

Ask Kareena if marriage is no longer considered a taboo for heroines and she blatantly denies this. The actor feels that Bollywood still has a reservation against married heroines.

“Who are we kidding? I think that we have not reached a stage where Bollywood accepts a married heroine. Of course, there are exceptions like Aishwarya Rai and Kajol but it is the exceptions that prove the rule,” she says.

Talking about actor beau Saif Ali Khan’s kids, Sara and Ibrahim, Kareena admits that she has developed a certain bond with them which is more of friendship and easy camaraderie.

“Sara is very good at her studies and so is Ibrahim. I really admire the way they have grown up. Of course, I also admire the way they have been brought up so beautifully by their mother (referring to Saif’s ex-wife and actor Amrita Singh). The kids and I are more like friends and I am really fond of them,” adds Kareena.

The actor also fondly refers to Saif’s mother, Sharmila Tagore and says that she has learnt a lot from her. “She was a style icon in her days and we must also remember that the best of her performances also came after she was married. I admire the way she dresses and carries herself. She was also the numero uno heroine of her times. We have a lot of similarities,” says Kareena.

The one thing that Kareena recently missed out on was meeting the late Maharani Gayatri Devi, whom she adores. “I heard so much about her from Saif but I was fortunate enough to meet her like him. She was one of the most beautiful women in the world,” she ends dreamily.

Asin And Genelia working togather

Asin And Genelia working togather: In Bollywood, one has to prove their talents and capabilities time and again. Actors have to better their acting skills, learn new dance forms, make sure they stay in the limelight and well get ahead in this mad rat race. It’s not that easy to bag movies with the big banners. The strugglers can vouch for this. Unless you are Shahrukh Khan or Amitabh Bachchan, or a star son like Ranbir Kapoor or Abhishek Bachchan, you don’t have film-makers at your doorstep, waiting to sign you on for their next film. It is difficult to make it big in Bollywood unless you have luck on your side. Either you rise through the competition or lose your way out.

Asin And Genelia working togather

The career graph of many actors proves this point. ‘Gracy Singh’, does this name ring any bells? This pretty looking petite actress got her big-break in the Oscar nominated ‘Lagaan’, opposite Aamir Khan. She was appreciated for her work. An opportunity to work in an Ashutosh Gowarikar film surely made her life. She then starred in Munnabhai MBBS and Armaan. Unfortunately her luck did not seem to last too long. Most of her films since then have failed at the box office.

Let’s take a more recent example. Both the actresses are successful South Indian Heroines, both have a super-hit movie to their credit and have had their good share of stardom. However they haven’t reached the top yet. Any guesses? Yes, they are none other than Asin and Genelia D’Souza.

Genelia made a striking comeback in Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na, opposite Imran Khan. She received accolades for her role as Aditi Mahant. A.K.A. Meow. This coming of age movie striked the right cords with the audience and the songs became an anthem for the youngsters, be it ‘Pappu Can’t Dance Saala’ Or ‘Kabhi Kabhi Aditi’. However Genelia’s success was short-lived. Her other movies, Life Partner and Chance Pe Dance both bombed at the box office.

Asin’s Bollywood career has faced a similar fate. She made a scintillating debut in Bollywood in Ghajini opposite Aamir Khan. The movie was a block-buster hit. Asin won the award for the Best Debutante. She surely seemed to have what it takes to be an A-list actress in Bollywood- be it her good looks or acting capabilities. However her career has taken off just yet. Her second movie, London Dreams with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn was a debacle at the box office. She lost out on many movies to her contemporaries, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Sonam Kapoor. Currently she is working only on one film, Ready.

So what’s the reason for this sudden change of luck? Nothing can be done about it. But one thing is for sure. If you want to survive in Bollywood you have got to be strong enough to rise through your failures, get a grip of your career and start afresh. So wish the actors all the best. May you have the strength to fight it out.

Katrina Kaif & Sachin Tendulkar top of the Yahoo 2010

Katrina Kaif & Sachin Tendulkar top of the Yahoo 2010: In cricket, Sachin Tendulkar led as the top cricket icon on the Yahoo! India network. Kaif hogged the limelight for reasons both professional and personal — a critically acclaimed performance in the film Rajneeti, existing cheek by jowl with a mystery stomach ailment that had the nation on tenterhooks, to her breakup with long time beau Salman Khan and her more recent, still ‘alleged’ romance with the latest Kapoor scion Ranbir.

Katrina Kaif & Sachin Tendulkar top of the Yahoo 2010

Yahoo said people followed all these developments closely across the Yahoo! network from Yahoo! News to Yahoo! Movies. Yahoo! India announced its 2010 Year in Review, the annual Yahoo! look back that identifies the top trends of the year from millions of consumer searches and the top stories and topics of the year from the Yahoo! network.

The Year in Review is a distinct way to look at people’s interests and a society in motion. This year, online activity on Yahoo! India was dominated by the public’s transfixion with a fair share of controversies and comebacks, triumphs and disasters, clashes of personalities and clashes of interests, spread over the arenas of news, politics, current affairs, cricket, finance, entertainment in general and movies in particular. As Katrina emerged at the top of the popularity charts, Sachin Tendulkar led as the top cricket icon of the year.

Like each of his previous 20 years in the game, Sachin made national news by breaking records. The highlight, of course, was his emerging as the first player in the history of the game to score 200 runs in a one-day game.

Cricket fans across the nation renamed Sachin as “God” and the frenzy reflected across the web with consumers commenting on and sharing cricket stories on the Yahoo! Network. The calendar year also saw him score 1396 Test runs at an average of 82 with two double hundreds and four other centuries — a phenomenal run that saw Tendulkar end the year as ICC Cricketer of the Year.

Cricket continued to establish itself as the national preoccupation of choice —millions of people read, shared and discussed developments around the third season of the Indian Premier League (IPL3) on the Yahoo! network.

Yahoo! readers commented and tracked each and every part of the controversies surrounding IPL 3. Controversies ranged from Shashi Tharoor losing his job over an IPL-related spat to Lalit Modi being questioned by various investigative agencies and the abrupt axing of two high profile teams from Rajasthan and Punjab.

Search trends across Yahoo! highlighted scams and scandals, which surfaced with distressing regularity across the realms of politics, governance and finance. From India’s best ever international sporting moment at the Commonwealth Games, to the criminal investigations that followed. Also a sex scandal complete with video rocked the hitherto unsullied reputation of Swami Nithyananda and came as a rude shock to the hundreds of thousands of devoted followers of the ‘godman’.

“No news may be good news for merchants of clichés, but for a journalist, the reverse is true — news is good, it is what keeps editorial adrenalin pumping. From that point of view, 2010 with its plethora of happenings across topic sets validated a finding of the previous years — when things happen, the world comes to Yahoo! This year, with its frenetic mix of headline-making events and larger than life personalities, has seen the audience interest and engagement withYahoo! grow strongly,” said Prem Panicker, Managing Editor, Yahoo! India.

Veena Malik & Ashmit Patel act togather in Jism2?The controversy of Veena Malik caught on camera is finally revealed as the images being used for the celebrity are very much the same which were hyped when she joined the Tinsel Town and were later proved that they were not of Veena but of someone who looked like her. Salman Khan & Sonakshi Sinha reject love scenes in ‘Race 2’

Salman Khan & Sonakshi Sinha reject love scenes in ‘Race 2’: Sonakshi Sinha might be just one film old in Bollywood but she is already laying down conditions and making sure she doesn’t miff her mentor Salman Khan in anyway. The actress, whose career decisions are largely taken by Salman, has told the makers of ‘Race 2’ that she under no conditions would don revealing clothes or do any bedroom scenes for the film.

Salman Khan & Sonakshi Sinha reject love scenes in ‘Race 2’

Confirming the news, a source told a daily, “It’s like a clause. Sonakshi was polite but clear that she won’t expose in ‘Race 2’. The first version of the ‘Race’ series was quite steamy. But the second version is even steamier. Sonakshi was told about this, so she laid down her cards on the table.”What’s more is that Sonakshi has refused to fall the age old trick where the directors state that such explicit scenes are necessary as the script demands it.

“It goes without saying that Ms Sinha will not perform any lovemaking or smooching scenes in the film. Adjustments have been made to suit Sonakshi, who was being considered for the film for quite some time. Knowing her Indian image and shy nature, this was more or less expected. The producer of the film, Ramesh Taurani, and the directors, Abbas-Mustan, are very happy to have her on board,” adds the source.

Anushka Sharma Movies: Band Bajaa. for the most part essential picture of my lifework

Anushka Sharma Movies: Band Bajaa. . . ' for the most part essential picture of my lifework: She made her much-talked about debut opposite the 'badshah' of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan, but it is her third and upcoming film 'Band Baaja Baarat' which is the most important movie in her career, says actress Anushka Sharma.

The actress who shot to instant fame with her role in the 2008 hit 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi', says that she was a lot more involved in the making of her latest film. "This is one film which I have thought about a lot. When compared to my first two films, there is too much of me out here, which only makes it further special and important. Right through it's making, my mind was constantly occupied just with this film," said the 22-year-old.

Anushka plays Shruti, an enterprising wedding planner in the film which marks the debut of Ranveer Singh, who plays her partner Bittu. "The entire experience of working on this film has gone so deep down in my psyche that I can anything about it now; I am so clear about every aspect of it," said Anushka who is hoping to score a hat trick of hits with the film. 'Band Baaja...' is her third film with Yash Raj banner after her debut effort 'Ran Ne Bana Di Jodi' and more recently 'Badmaash Company'.

"The very title 'Band Bajaa Baaraat' represents the whole energy and fervour of the film. The film has a backdrop of wedding planners, the characters which are played by Ranveer and myself. The film is also coming at just the right time this festive season," said the actress who began her career as a ramp model.

Over the last few months, quite a few romcoms have hit the screen though they have all met with diverse results. 'I Hate Luv Storys' was the most successful of all, 'Anjaana Anjaani' proved to be an average affair, 'Aisha' came and went while 'Break Ke Baad' is currently struggling to find an audience.

'Band Baaja..', Anushka says has all the ingredients of a great rom-com. "You will see that very emotion is quite well packed in 'Band Bajaa Baaraat'. The scenes are pretty light and even serious moments are conveyed in an lighter tone. We are not trying to make people cry. The film stays sweet throughout and you would come out with a with a smile on your face. Rest assured, our film has everything that you can expect in a rom-com," said the actress. The film written by Habib Faisal and directed by Maneesh Sharma releases all over on 10th December.

Vidya Balan and Saif Ali work togather in ‘Eklavya: The Royal Guard’

Vidya Balan and Saif Ali work togather in ‘Eklavya: The Royal Guard’: Remember Parineeta- the Bollywood debut of demure Vidya Balan who had won all hearts with that poignant and alluring film. Vidya had paired up with Saif Ali Khan in that block buster based on a Bengali novel and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Then they were next seen in ‘Eklavya: The Royal Guard’. However, that film sank without a trace. But now the actors meet again in ‘Dream Sequence’, a film that shall be directed by the crafty Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by the reputed Balaji Motion Pictures.

However, Vidya wasn’t the 1st choice for this film. Earlier, Deepika Padukone was slated to do the film coz the makers wanted to cash in on the popularity of the ‘Love Aaj Kal’ pair Saif and Padukone. However, Deepika pulled out after Saif sounded uncertain and Abhay Deol was being eyed as a possible replacement.

But finally Saif stayed back after being convinced by Vishal Sir with whom he has worked in ‘Omkara.’ But the exit of Deepika paved way for a grand entry of Vidya Balan who has rubbed shoulders with Vishal in ‘Ishqiya’.

Now things are settling down and all are excited about the project. But it is to be seen if Vidya and Saif can conjure up the same chemistry of ‘Parineeta’ or would ‘Dream Sequence’ would shatter a la Eklavya?

Priyanka Chopra perform itam song in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa

Priyanka Chopra perform itam song in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa: ‘Desi girl’ Priyanka Chopra surely has a mind of her own. Never to be seen doing a sexy ‘matka jhatka’ item song, she doesn’t mind doing the same in a marriage party. When asked about her’ choices’, she revealed she wasn’t okay with the fact that she has to dance in front of a live audience, but dancing at weddings is okay with her. As if weddings do not have live audience!!! Apparently she has no problems dancing on hot numbers and does full justice to them. She is a total ‘paisa vasool’.

Courting controversy for being the ‘special friend’ of hottie Shahid Kapur; she is in news this time for allegedly refusing a min boggling three crore to dance at the New Year’s Eve. She was seen in Delhi at a private wedding and was back in the ‘mayanagri’ Mumbai to dance at another private wedding, organized at Turf Club on Saturday.

The former Miss World is a high maintenance wedding attraction. Organizes had to shell out a hefty sum of 2 crore for her to come and shake a leg. People were seen enjoying and having a gala time at the wedding. Lucky all those people who were invited to a PC starrer wedding function.

Rumor has it that she performs solo at such events and charges about two crore per occasion. She performs on all her hot number till date. People like her performances and lap it up with great enthusiasm.

Rani Mukherji Movies: Act in 'No One Killed Jessica

Rani Mukherji Movies: Act in 'No One Killed Jessica': Rani Mukherji’s role in No One Killed Jessica is bound to raise a lot of eyebrows. The actress has a bold and brash role, and her dialogues include a lot of expletives. This is not the first time that she has attempted using such words. Her character in her earlier films Yuva and Bichoo had her using cuss words too. Rani says, “I was comfortable using the language as I was portraying the character of a news reporter. She’s fearless and heroic in her job. I think a lot of people use such words these days.”

There has been a lot of buzz about the scene where her character is shown using the middle finger in the movie. Apparently, the censor board has taken an objection to it. Rani clarifies, “As an actor, my job is to do what the director says.” She adds that she was glad that she was playing a journalist in the film. “For once I enjoyed being on the other side of the fence where I was asking the questions.”

Elaborating about her role in No One Killed Jessica, she adds, “I play a crime reporter who deals with danger and she is comfortable in places where you are not normally at ease.” She also clarifies that her character is not inspired by some of the female journalists on TV. She says, “My character is not inspired by anyone. The director made it clear that he wanted me to build the character gradually. The role is not inspired by anyone nor is it similar to any journalist I know.

Rani had also met Jessica Lall’s sister Sabrina Lall in Delhi recently. “Sabrina was an active part in the film. The script was shown to her before we started shooting and only after she gave the go ahead did we start
shooting.”What about the cold vibes between her and Vidya Balan? Were there any? Rani says, “I enjoyed working with Vidya — she was great company. I don’t know why but Vidya would just smile whenever she saw me. I don’t know how we went through the serious scenes because we were giggling all the time,” she reveals.
